3 Things Thursday #88

It’s hard to believe that it’s already December 10 and that 2016 is just around the corner. I’m looking forward to the new year and some new stuff for 3 Things Thursday. But until then, here are the three things I’d like to share with you this week.

1. Afternoon at the Park
Yesterday the weather gave us a break from the rain. It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day so we took advantage and headed to the park after school. For some reason, the park was completely deserted and we had the whole thing to ourselves. We swung, we slid, we ran, we spun, we played follow the leader, we had a great time!

2. Ismaili Celebration
In the past, I’ve shared a little about my religion and background, including the fact that we are Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. We don’t celebrate Christmas in the traditional sense, even though we have adopted a few of the elements, such as family dinner on Christmas Day. What we do celebrate on December 13, is the birthday of our leader/spiritual guide, the Aga Khan. We have a big dinner, we give the kids presents and we get together at Khane (mosque) for prayers and then for celebrations. It even gives us a reason to put up a tree. We just call it a Khushiali (celebration) Tree instead of a Christmas Tree.

3. Planning Session for 2016
I am pretty excited to be joining some of my my favourite bloggers, Jamie from Styling the Inside, Raj from Pink Chai Living and Taslim from Let Me Out Creative (who came up with this idea,) for a 2016 planning and strategy session this weekend. I have some goals and ideas in mind for both my blogging and SABN and I am going to make a plan for success. I’ll share the details on how it went!

  1. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of our entire family playing at the park! I can’t wait to have kids so I can be a big kid again too!

Also I love that you incorporate some elements of Christmas into your own celebration to make it your own. We did/do the same!

And finally, please share more about your planning session – I love learning more about other bloggers’ thought processes.

  2. In my family, three of us born in the week leading up to Christmas, celebrating on Saturday. We’ve had such lovely weather, too – we could have had the celebration in the park. That would have been a first.

  3. Family gatherings are definitely my favorite part of the holiday season. I also enjoy giving the gifts I have lovingly made or taken the time to purchase, based on the recipient’s likes and/or needs. Happy Holidays to you and your family!
