3 Things Thursday – Week 8

It’s time for 3 Things Thursday! I always love sharing and reading your favourite things from the week. Here my my #3ThingsThurs.

3 Things Badge resize1. Flowers
In the past I don’t think I really appreciated flowers. If I would get them I would put them in a vase of water and place it somewhere where everyone could admire, but that was it. Now, when someone gives me flowers, I really appreciate it! I’m excited to smell them, admire them and put them somewhere in my home where they can be appreciated by all. The last flowers I got were on Monday when some friends came over for a BBQ and brought these lovely flowers in a vase. They look perfect on my dining table. What do you think?

2. DoMatcha
I’ve never been a coffee drinker but I do enjoy tea on occasion. I love my mom’s chai and I love trying out different green tea’s. Most recently I tried out DoMatcha, an ancient Japanese green tea.  It’s harvested and cultivated in such a way to keep it fresh and flavourful. And that was actually the first thing I noticed when I opened the can, it smelled amazing! I loved the special bamboo whisk I got to help me prepare the tea. I’ve only had it a couple of times, but I’ve enjoyed each cup. I also like the fact that DoMatcha can raise your energy level and still make you feel relaxed and calm. It could do with a little of that!

3. Enjoying the Outdoors
This summer, it’s my mission to take the kids and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. We’ve already started. This week we’ve gone for a walk, ridden bikes, picked flowers and we explored, Bear Creek Park in Surry, BC, somewhere we’ve never been before. It was lots of fun! There was  huge park for the kids to play at, a spray pad, a train ride and mini golf. Our next new thing is hopefully renting bicycles and riding them around the sea wall at Stanley Park.

  1. I am the same way when it comes to flowers. I do more than just set them out and forget about them. The last time I got flowers I must have smelled them 20 times or more, I would sit at my table and just look at them when the sun hit them and I just really appreciated them. I enjoyed reading your 3 things!

  2. My Three things for this week all tie to the same reason; I have a horrible sore in my mouth that won’t go away and it makes the pleasure of eating a massive chore.

#1. Water. The only thing right now that doesn’t feel like putting salt in a wound.
#2. Ice-cream. It still stings my mouth, but it’s cool creaminess is a slight comfort right now.
#3. My hubby. He’s been keeping me clear of “high pain” foods like pickles and anything crunchy.

I can’t wait til I can have kettle-cooked salt and vinegar chips and something deep fried and spicy.

  3. I have to say that I am really enjoying this blog and I will be coming back for me. This past Tuesday, I bought flowers for a colleague, and they looked so pretty and inviting. Every now and then I buy flowers for myself as a way to appreciate and reward myself for a hard week. It’s very important to do so and many mothers don’t see the important in indulging in self-care. The same day, I enjoyed a massage. I try to indulge in one self-care activity at least once a week – whether it’s enjoying a beautiful walk on a sunny day or reading a book or magazine.
Great post and it’s important to continue to spread this message of self-care.

  4. I love flowers (if you visit my blog you’ll see pictures of lots of them!) I live in upstate New York and have only been to the Vancouver area once but I have such sweet memories of Stanley Park – by all means, get out there with your young ones and enjoy enjoy and enjoy. I’m a big believer of having children in the outdoors as much as possible. I’ve heard of something called “Nature deficit disorder”. Maybe the name is tongue in cheek but I think it’s a real thing.

  5. Those flowers are gorgeous! It also sounds like you live in a beautiful area in which there is lots to enjoy outside. Then you can come in for a nice hot cup of green tea!

  6. There’s nothing like a bunch of flowers for cheering up a room or me 🙂 I think my 3 things will be 3 things Saturday again this week but I know what they are already.
