5 Netflix Original Series Worth Watching

If you have Netflix, you probably already know that they have tons of great shows and movies for kids, teens, adults and families. What we really like, is that there are no commercials and that we don’t have to wait a week, to watch the next episode of a show we love.

But, what actually got the hubby and I hooked on Netflix is their Original Series and they have quite a few. If you haven’t had a chance to check them out, there are some really good ones!

Here are 5 Netflix Original Series  Worth Watching

1. Orange is the New Black
This was the first Netflix series I watched when I became part of the #StreamTeam. It’s about a 30 something career woman who suddenly has to go to prison for a crime she committed long ago.
After the first couple of episodes, the hubby and I were hooked! It’s one of those shows that reels you in and you just need to find out what happens next. Now, Season 3 is premiering on June 12, so you have enough time to catch up on the first two! Did I mention that I get a sneak peak of the first two episodes next week? I can’t wait!

2.Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
This original series premiered earlier in the year. As soon as I read the plot line, I knew it would be a fun show! And with Tina Fey as one of the writers, I was not disappointed. The premise is that after 15 years, Kimmy is rescued from a cult and she tries to get her life back in New York.

3. House of Cards
I was late to the game for this series. I kept hearing everyone talking about House of Cards, but for some reason, I never got around to watching it. However, I made up for it and I’ve have caught up on all three seasons. It’s one of those series that for me was a love/hate relationship. It stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright as a ruthless political couple who will do anything, and I mean anything, to get what they want.

4. Grace and Frankie
I’m about 5 episodes into this new Netflix Original Series. It’s a really cute one about two older couples. The wives suddenly find themselves single when their husbands reveal that they are gay and in love with each other. There are a lot of big actors in this one including Martin Sheen and Jane Fonda.

5. All Hail King Julien
This is actually a kids show but I decided to add it to the list for a few reasons. One, it’s an original series on Netflix. Two, the kids BOTH like it. Three, as a parent, I enjoy watching it with them. If you or your kids haven’t checked it out yet, it’s actually sort of a prequel to the Madagascar movies.

And I definitely cannot end this post without mentioning my excitement over Netlix rebooting the classic show Full House. The Fuller House will start Candace Cameron Bure (D.J.), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy.) Other characters will also be around for guest appliances and Uncle Jessie will be directing. I loved the original show growing up and now I can’t wait for this one!

So these are 5 Netflix Original Series that I think are worth watching. What is your favourite series, past or present?

I am a member of the the Netflix Stream Team and have been given a Netflix membership to help facilitate my posts. As always, all the opinions in this post are 100% my own.

  1. I don’t have Netflix–don’t even know what it is. Maybe a television program like Sky which I don’t have either. Wish it did. Those shows you mentioned sound good.

  2. My son has extended his Netflix account to include us, but we almost never use it. I think there is a generational gap with streaming services although we sometimes use Amazon for movies. Having said that, I’ve seen some of the first season of Orange is the New Black and I loved it. But, I am not a binge TV watcher. Too restless!
