6 Places to Eat in Victoria

Last weekend, the hubby and I got back from a wonderful weekend getaway in Victoria, British Columbia.  I promise to share about all the great things we did while we were there soon, but today I need to share about the food and the places to eat  in Victoria!

There are so many amazing restaurants in Victoria so today I’m sharing 6 Places to Eat in Victoria (like you NEED to eat there), plus two honourable mentions.

6 Places to Eat in Victoria

1. 10 Acres Kitchen
Wow, is how I would start off my description of the Kitchen. Their menu is locally inspired and I love that their ingredients come from their own organic farm in North Saanich. Whatever they haven’t grown themselves is locally sourced for a true farm to table experience!

The Kitchen menu has a good variety of dishes. This may sound funny, but you should really try their onion rings, they were amazing! The hubby had oysters and we shared a really delicious prawns on toast for appetizers. For dinner I had the butternut squash gnocchi that was to die for as was the chocolate ganache for dessert. I think anything on the menu is worth trying and we can’t wait to go back for more. Definitely amazing, put it on your list of places to eat in Victoria.

2. Steamship Grill
The Steamship Grill is another great place to have dinner, in Victoria’s inner harbour with an amazing view.  Their food is local, fresh and west coast inspired. The Steamship Grill specializes in seafood yet still offers a wide range of other dishes on their menu as well.
The hubby was in seafood heaven with oysters, king crab legs and the mixed seafood grill.
I went for the Artisan Leafy Green salad which was so good! And for my main meal I satisfied my burger and fries craving with their Steamship Beef Burger.

Make sure to try the Mango Mint Iced Tea, so delish. Even though we were full at the end of our meal, we couldn’t resist the Butterscotch Dark Chocolate Skor pudding. Need I say more?

3. The Mint
The Mint is really worth stopping by for a bite, whether it’s for lunch or dinner. With a great atmosphere and an eclectic fusion menu, their food is so flavourful and delicious.
We started our meal with their Tibetan Momos. Then our main meal consisted of Tandoori Chicken Souvlaki and The Curry Plate Thaali.

I also have to mention the Mint drinks which are one of their specialties. The cardamom mojito and sojito are both must-tries!

4. The Lure Restaurant
On our trip to Victoria, we stayed at the lovely Delta Hotel. Inside they had a great restaurant, the Lure Restaurant and Grill. It’s in a fabulous waterfront location and has a great menu.

We were there for lunch and I had the Quinoa and Forbidden Rice salad which I really enjoyed! The hubby grabbed a caesar and the Dungeness Crab Cobb Salad. For dessert we had a delicious house made sorbet and ice cream sandwich.

5. Willie’s Bakery and Cafe
Originally built as a bakery in 1887, this great eatery has been owned and operated by the Willie’s family for four generations! Willie’s Bakery and Cafe has a lovely decor and atmosphere and  now specializes in food that is organic, free-range and uses local ingredients.
We had a chance to eat breakfast there and it was so delicious! Make sure to try their freshly squeezed orange juice and their mochas.

You can’t really go wrong with anything on their breakfast menu, it was all great and we can’t wait to go back again! Another must add on your list of places to eat in Victoria.

6. Parliamentary Dining Room
Apparently it’s not a well known fact, even by locals, that there is a dining area in the parliament building that serves breakfast and lunch.

It’s such a cute dining area with so much history. I’ve only eaten breakfast there but it was delicious and so reasonably priced! I would definitely recommend ordering their Signature Island Buttermilk Cheese biscuit and their scone of the day.

Honorable Mentions – I call it this because we didn’t have an entire meal there, but what we did sample is worth mentioning and sharing.

17 Mile House Pub
While we were in Sooke for our first adventure in zipling, the owner suggested we head over to 17 Mile House after our zipline adventure and try their authentic Irish coffee. We took the recommendation and wow, it was delicious and packed a bit of a kick. We also tried out their poutine and it really hit the spot.
{Make sure to check out the Maple Leaf Poutine on their menu ;)}

Empire Donuts
Yes, I said donuts. I love sweets but donuts aren’t on a regular rotation in my diet. However, when we heard about Empire Donuts, we had to check them out. Their donuts are handmade, from scratch, with so many amazing flavours like Vanilla Chai, Honey Peanut Butter and the classics like old fashion and chocolate dip.

Those are a few of my favourite places to eat at in Victoria. For a full list of Victoria’s restaurants, check out Tourism Victoria’s website.

  1. These all look like wonderful places to eat. I have not been to Canada in such a long time. We will be traveling to Michigan this summer. Perhaps we can take a nice long side trip! Love the restaurant with the scones!
