Coquitlam Farmer’s Market Haul

Nothing can beat shopping at the farmer’s market. You are getting fresh, local produce, often organic and you’re supporting local businesses and farms. You’re also reducing your carbon footprint. It’s pretty much a win-win for everyone! Recently I visited the Coquitlam Farmer’s Market and I’m sharing my haul with you!

(At the bottom of my post, enter to win $25 worth of fresh fruit & Vegetables from Coquitlam Farmers Market.)

Farmer’s Market Haul (clockwise)

1. Organic bell peppers and zucchini
I’m going to roast them to use as toppings for pizza and to use as a side dish

2. Kics Lemonade
This was a request from my 8- year old son. Their fresh lemonade is so delicious. You just need to add water and enjoy!

3. Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
Made by A Bread Affair, with only a handful of ingredients and no preservatives, these cookies were a hit in our house

4. Organic Cherries
One of our favourite summer fruits!

5. Gabi & Jules Fruit & Nut Chocolate
Although they are famous for their amazing pies this chocolate treat was so delicious and perfect for those nighttime sweat cravings.

6. Whole Grain Bread
It surprises me how many extra ingredients and additives there are in store bought bread. So I was happy to see this whole grain, homemade great at A Bread Affair.

7. Organic Carrots
I kid you not, these carrots from Forstbauer Farms are the most delicious I’ve ever tasted. Even my kids request this every time we go to the market because they are just so darn sweet!

I try and get the kids involved when we go to the farmers market and let them pick some items as well. It’s great that the Coquitlam Farmers Market really does encourage kids as well.

They have a Power of Produce (POP) Club that is free for children. It runs every Sunday from 9-1  at 624 Poirier Street. Each week has a new activity.   Be sure to get the kids to request a passport and after they’ve recorded all their activities in it, they can turn it in to get a $3 market token that can be spent at any fruit or vegetable stand!
