Hell’s Gate Airtram

Living in Beautiful British Columbia, sometimes we take for granted the amazing attractions right in our backyard. Even though I’ve lived in Vancouver for most of my life, I’ve never been to Hell’s Gate in Boston Bar.

Visit to Hell’s Gate

Recently, we decided to remedy that with a fun family trip to Hell’s Gate Airtram. Only a two hour drive away from home, we joined some friends and decided to go on a road trip.

The kids were bouncing with excitement on the way there, drowning us with continuous, “Are we there yet, are we there yet?” But it was worth the wait. As we boarded the airtram, we were greeted with a magnificent view of the gushing waters of the Fraser River. It is one of the steepest, fully suspended trams in North America.

Once we landed on the other side, there was so much for us all to do! The kids loved panning for gold, checking out all the displays, walking over the suspension bridge, checking out the gift shop and of course enjoying the delicious ice cream and fudge.
It was also interesting for the kids to learn about the history behind it all (and it made for some good conversations on the ride back.)

After that, it was time for our tram ride back. Hell’s Gate is definitely worth checking out with the family whether you’re driving through BC or you’re looking for a fun day trip!

  1. After watching Gold Rush, my kids would be ecstatic to pan for gold 🙂 It sounds like a great place to visit for a family outing.
