How to be a Cool Mom and Make Your Own Pizza Night

Don’t get scared off by the title, “How to be a Cool Mom and MakeYour Own Pizza Night.” Technically they could be two blog posts, but I couldn’t really separate them as they happened at the same time.

And really, you’re saving time and effort because you’re learning about two things at the same time!

Let me start at the beginning though.

My seven-year old, has asked me if he could have a friend or two over for a playdate. To be honest, when summer is over, between school, activities, everyone’s busy schedules, it’s hard to find the time.

But I still wanted him to cultivate his friendships outside the classroom. Then I had this brilliant idea (if I do say so myself.) I thought, why don’t we invite over all his friends at the same time time on the same day. They could have pizza, play the Wii and get to hang out away from school.

Up till now, other than birthdays and solo summer playdates, there hasn’t really been any of that. I figured at the age of seven, he was ready to start hanging out with his friends at home. It could potentially make me the cool (or crazy mom) who let all his friends hang out and it could pave the way for the future when the kids are teens and our place would be where friends are always welcome and comfortable to hang out.

I mean lets face it, when you’re a teen, if I remember clearly, friends are the most important thing so if I can cultivate a place where the parents are totally cool with the friends being around, I think it can be a win-win situation.

Now you’re asking, where does this Make Your Own Pizza Night come in? Well in addition to the cool mom letting you have your friends over, let’s add making your own pizza to the party.

We were plan on ordering delivery but then I changed my mind at the last minute. We decided letting Keyan’s friends make their own pizza’s would be more fun. It was really easy and would be good for a family dinner too.

Ingredients:
– pizza sauce
– individual pizza crusts (or make your own)
– favorite toppings like, mushrooms, green peppers, spinach, chicken, salami, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese.

Instructions:
1. Put individual pizza crusts in plates.
2. Let each person spread pizza sauce onto crust.
3. Then they can pick and add all the toppings they want
4. Generously add cheeses
5.Put into oven (that’s been preheated to 350 degrees) Let it cook until cheese is all melted and crust is slightly browned
6. Take it out, slice it and enjoy when it’s cooled down a little

In the end, the pizza and wii party was a big hit and everyone had a great time. Keyan’s already talking about the next one.

  1. Great post! I’m not much into cooking but definitely sounds like a great idea to try when Zara grows up a little 🙂
