The Ultimate Snack Box

Teaching my kids to eat healthy is very important to me. That’s the only reason I actually started cooking. It’s why I serve vegetables with dinner everyday. It’s why I instituted a  Candy Day. I don’t deprive them. They get to have ice cream and cake and nuggets and fries, but not on a regular basis and homemade as much as possible.

Of course that means we have to set an example for them as well, and sometimes that’s hard. I’m a big snacker and it’s tough to find a variety of healthy snacks. My go-to is usually stove-top popcorn or fruit yogurt with almonds or granola in it. Often I crave something different and that leads me to my husband’s (not so healthy) stash of snacks more often than I would like to admit.

That is why I was so excited when I found Snackbox, a Canadian company, that deliver healthy and yummy snacks right to your door. Each month you get a box full of new snack options delivered right to your door, or in our case, because we live in a condo, right to the closest Canada Post Outlet. Whether you’re craving sweet, salty or both, you’re likely to find what you’re looking for in Snackbox.

When I told my kids that we had a special delivery of a box full of snacks, I kid you not, they were so eager to to open the box, I barely had a chance to get my camera to take some pictures before they started opening it up and snacking!

Here is what was in November’s box:

november snackbox items

– Pirate’s Booty Cheese Puffs (Sponge Bob edition)
– Larabar (peanut butter chocolate chip)
– ITO EN Teas’Tea (cold Green Tea was the flavour we got)
– My Smoothie Green (Blueberry)
-Arora Creations Gobi Spice (along with a recipe for crispy chickpeas that I can’t wait to try!)
– Enerjive Quinoa Skinny Crackers
– Bella Viva Orchards Pear Slices
– Cocolico Toffee Coconut Dark Chocolate
– La Fourmi Fruit & Nut Medley
– Veggie Straws – True to Nature Hemp Protein Bar

Right away, Keyan and Kyah grabbed the Pirate’s Booty and blueberry smoothie. I was lucky to even get a taste before everything was devoured!

Then Keyan tried to eat some of the Coconut Dark Chocolate. When I reminded him that candy day was on Sunday, he said “But Mummy, it’s healthy chocolate!” Kids are too smart. We haven’t tried everything in the box yet because I’m trying to make it last. Everything we’ve had so far has been great and most importantly, healthy alternatives.

The items in the Snackbox retail for more than $40, but you can get a box starting from $24 a month depending on the type of subscription you want.

I definitely recommend Snackbox for families and friends as a way to incorporate healthy eating in their lives. It would even make for a really great idea, because Snackbox just launched its gift subscriptions. I mean I know I’d love someone to buy me a gift where every month I get a box of awesome snacks delivered right to my door!

And Snackbox is making it easy for you to try it’s service out by giving me a coupon code for you to use. It’s $15 off your first order delivered to any address in Canada.

  1. Oh, Keyan saying it’s healthy chocolate reminds me of when my kids were little. We’d go to the supermarket and they’d be great – not asking for things. Then we’d go to health food store and they would find every little bar and ask for it. They knew I’d say no to Coco pops etc, but that they had a chance in the health food store. Sounds like Keyan’s the same!

  2. My favourite snack is home made frozen yogurt! Sometimes I add fresh or frozen fruits, nuts, chia seeds and the odd dark chocolate drizzle on top! Indulging, satisfying, delicious and fun to make! 🙂 Thank you for this wonderful Giveaway! (Wonderful blog by the way, great read )! Going to spend some time reading some more tonight while I relax and drink some tea!

    1. That sounds really delicious May Anne! I never even thought of making my own frozen yogurt, what a great suggestion. I’m glad you entered the giveaway and thank you so much for the compliments on my blog. Enjoy your tea and reading tonight. 🙂
