A #FreshlyDressed Challenge

Yesterday I told you about a physical challenge that I was taking on for the first time ever. Today, it’s another challenge. This one is of the fashion variety.

Coquitlam Centre got in touch with me and asked if I was up for a #FreshlyDressed Summer Dress Challenge. Here was my mission, should I choose to accept it.

Theme: Picnic in the Park
Mission: Build a look around a dress that’s perfect for a “Picnic in the Park”. Coquitlam Centre will provide you with a  dress, you need to pull together a complete outfit that’s accessorized to achieve the look.

Of course I was up for it and excitedly waited for the dress to arrive.

Once I had the dress in hand, I was excited to style it. First had to think about all the factors. I was styling my outfit to look good but still be comfortable at a picnic in the park. I had to be able to move around easily and of course be practical because any picnic I would be going on would include two young kids. That didn’t mean I couldn’t look good while being a mom.

Here is the look I came up with. The dress was lovely, loose and flowing. Perfect for a fun picnic with the family at the park. It would be sunny so I grabbed a fun mint green hat. I paired it with a big beach bag that would fit picnic food as well as some extra clothes, a water bottle and sunscreen for the kids. I wore it with stylish but comfortable sandals and of course a pair of shades.

 Outfit Details:
Dress: Volcom Dress from Below the Belt
Bag: Payless
Shoes: Sanuck Sandals from Boathouse
Sunglasses: Watch It
Hat: Was a gift
So how do you think I did with styling this dress with the theme Picnic in the Park? I would love to hear what you think and how you would have styled it for your picnic at the park.
*Thank you to Coquitlam Centre with providing me with the dress for this blog post.

  1. I love the look! The dress is great. I would have to have straps, though. Strapless dresses just won’t stay up on me. Overall, it’s totally something I would wear too.
