Banana Ice Cream in Two Steps

We have a lot of bananas in our house and usually they all get eaten. However, on the odd occasion we will have some stragglers, one or two overripe bananas that are at a point where no one wants to eat them. Usually I make Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins or Banana Bread Cookies. Earlier this year, I was visiting family in Toronto and my aunt mentioned to me how she just used frozen bananas to make ice cream. I thought that was a pretty brilliant idea so with the last leftover, overripe banana, I decided to try it out.

Ingredients:
Frozen Bananas
Organic Cocoa (optional)
Vanilla extract (optional)
Honey (optional)

Instructions:
1. So basically, all you do is take your frozen bananas out of the freezer. (I like to peel them and cut them before, put them in a container and then store them in freezer.)
2. Once you’re ready to have banana ice cream, put your frozen bananas in the food processor and blend. First it’ll go through a crumbly stage but wait it out and soon it’ll be smooth and creamy. You can just eat it like that or you can add extra flavour like, cocoa or honey (which we did this time.) You can even add vanilla.

And that’s really it. You can eat it right away or you can put it back in the freezer for a harder consistency, what ever you prefer! We got some thumbs up for this dessert in our house 🙂
