Getaway to the Niagara Region – Day 1

Many people don’t know this about me, but I was actually born in Niagara Fall.s (Not literally in the Falls as people like to joke, but at the hospital.) I was young when we moved to Vancouver and even though we’ve visited Ontario, I’ve never really explored what the Niagara Region has to offer until recently.

Last month, when I was invited by Chevrolet Canada to test drive their newly redesigned 2018 Equinox through the Niagara Region, I was amazed at what there was to see and do.

Exploring the Niagara Region

I arrived in Toronto the night before and stayed at an airport near the hotel. In the morning we all had breakfast. Then my driving parter, Tiffany from My Dirt, and I went outside to load into our Chevrolet Equinox that would take us to our destination, the Niagara Region, about a 1.5 hour drive away.

So many Chevrolet Equinox’s to choose from!
With my driving buddy and fellow blogger Tiffany.

It was a smooth drive in our Chevy as we explored and took advantage of all the awesome features in the vehicle. (Read about all the features HERE.)

Awesome Apple Car Play and Navigation to guide us through our exploration.

Our first stop was the Inn on the Twenty where we were staying the night. It was a beautiful location right in the heart of Niagara’s wine country. As soon as I got to my room, I knew I need to come back one day with the hubby!

The room was perfect! It had a king size bed, plush robes (a must,) a cute sitting area with bookshelves filled with reading and a fireplace. Bathroom had a jetted tub and the ambiance of the Inn was so lovely.

After getting our things settled, we headed across the street to the inn’s dining room for lunch before starting on our adventure.

Then it was off to our first destination, the Butterfly Conservatory. Me, Tiffany and photographer extrodinaire, Lucas decided to take the scenic route. (Well, in the Niagra area, pretty much every road is a scenic route.)

We stopped at a little coffee shop, Balzac’s Coffee Roasters, to refuel. It was such a cute little cafe!

Then it was off to the Butterfly Conservatory in the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens. I’ve never been to one and it was a cool experience. There were over 2000 tropical butterflies flying around a beautiful rainforest setting.

After our self-guided tour in the conservatory, instead of heading back to our hotel, as per the itinerary, we decided to take our Chevrolet Equinox with us on a tiny little detour. Since we were SO close to Niagara Falls, we couldn’t leave without paying it a visit first. After all, it is one of the wonders of the world.

But…you’ll have to wait until next week to read all about our Niagara Falls adventure and why this visit was extra special. I’ll also share all about day 2 of our adventure.

*Big thank you to Chevrolet Canada for inviting me to the Niagara Region
