We make lots of smoothies in our house. This summer has been no exception. But our little blender had been showing signs of it’s age. I wanted to get a new, better blender so I asked around and the one that was recommended the most was the Vitamix.
I was so excited when my Vitamix finally arrived. I couldn’t wait to get started making our morning smoothies and decided to try out a new recipe with one of my kids’ favourite summer melons, cantaloupe.
Summer Cantaloupe Smoothie Ingredients
– 1 cup cut up cantaloupe
– 1 cup milk (any kind, I used soy)
– 1/2 cup fresh kale pieces (stems removed)
– 1/2 large banana (I like to use frozen ones)
– 1 tbsp ground flax seed
– 100g vanilla yogurt
1. Put all the ingredients in your blender in the order as written above.
2. Blend until smooth.
3. Pour and enjoy! This recipe will make two small smoothies or one large one.
I have to add that my first Vitamix blending experience was great. The smoothie blended so quickly with out the usually stopping, opening the lid and stirring before blending again.
And what was even better was that the kale was completely blended. Usually, when I use kale in my smoothies, I am still chewing as I’m drinking lol. This Summer Cantaloupe Smoothie was sweet, healthy and totally smooth!
If you drink it as one large smoothie, the nutrition information is 358 calories, 9.7 grams of fat, 62 carbohydrates, 7 grams of fibre and 14.8 grams of protein. It’s a great smoothie to start off the morning with!
