3 Things Thursday – Week 24

I always look forward to Thursday because I get to share the three things that are on my mind with all of you and this week is kind of all about the kids. #3ThingsThursday

1. Preschool Photos
Kyah had her first day of preschool on Tuesday morning. I wanted to make sure we had a good memory of the day and I was getting ready to take pictures of her. But her big brother beat me to the punch and it was so adorable that I had to get a picture of that!

2. Simple September
My friend Carolyn over at Moments in Mommyland is trying to make life a little simpler. Sometimes we get so caught up that we don’t stop and appreciate the small things. So this month is all about enjoying the simple things in life and I am joining in. You can too, just use and follow the #SimpleSeptember on social media. Today the kids and I just sat by the lake and had lunch while enjoying the beautiful view, that’s today’s #SimpleSeptember.

3. Homeschooling…Sort of
I don’t know if what I’m doing is technically called homeschooling but since the BC Teachers and BC Government are at an impasses, school has not started yet so I’ve been trying to do do some work with my kindergardener. Each day, we tackle 5 pages from the three kindergarden work books I’ve bought. It’s not an easy task and I give kudos to those homeschooling!

  1. I am definitely not a Home Schooling mum, I don’t even have the patience throughout my daughter’s home work (that lasts like 15 minutes per day). I am kind of “darling you know it…, YoU KnOw It…, YOU KNOW IT FOR GOD’S SAKE!!!”
Patience, if you are reading this, please come to save me 😉
Congrats to all those patient mummies!

    1. I don’t know how patient I would be if I actually had to homeschool for year. 30 minutes a day was good for me:) And now that the teacher’s strike is over, Keyan will soon be starting Kindergarten! Thanks for your comment.

  2. I wouldn’t be able to homeschool! I have a lot of respect for the parents who do, because it is such hard work. Well done for working with your children to make sure they don’t fall too far behind while your schools and government negotiate. It’s a shame that it’s the children who really suffer when this happens.

I also love the idea of enjoying the simpler things in life. We try to do that all the time, and enjoy the simple days out like at the park or going for a picnic.

  3. I love the ‘off to school’ pictures! They are all over the place! Having never had kids myself, I can enjoy the excitement and future memories that are stored up in everyone else’s!

I also like the idea of simple enjoyment, and appreciating the abundance we have right now, rather than always yearning for something in the future,

    Thanks for the reminder,
    cheers,
    Gordon

  4. Your kids are beautiful and adorable (at least to the outside world lol), mashaAllah. I need to take part in this #simpleseptember . we get so caught up that we don’t appreciate the little (but important) stuff

  5. It is the little things, the simple things in life we must take the time to appreciate. Quiet play days at the park are great to sit and watch our children grow or jump in and play, just like them.

  6. I could never do homeschooling. Can’t wait for school to actually start. We’re trying to do lots of crafts and make the most of the ability to spend lots of time outside right now.

  7. The whole reason we started homeschooling was because the teachers in our school district were on strike at the time my oldest daughter should have started kindergarten. I decided to keep her home, and we’ve been homeschooling ever since. LOVE IT!
